In June 2015 we launched SafeRoads with funding from Alberta Traffic and Safety Program. We champion safe roads for all users, but primarily drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. Our Ambassadors engage with the community at events throughout the summer (e.g. Market Days, Canada Day, Canmore Folk Festival, etc.).
Our community bicycle workshop gives members access to tools and equipment to work on their bikes and learn from volunteer mentors. In June 2015 we established a permanent workshop located in the Canmore Recreation Centre. By purchasing a membership you gain access to The Hub.
Bike Shorts Film Festival
Each fall, CCC selects a number of bicycle-themed films to show at our annual Bike Shorts Film Festival. Door prizes and a silent auction are part of the fun at this evening for everyone who loves riding their bike!
ReCycle Round Up
Each spring CCC holds our annual ReCycle Round-up, collecting bikes donated from the community and after minor repairs selling them back into the community at an accessible cost. Our next ReCycle Round Up will be held April 2017. Each bike purchase includes a Hub membership providing access to our tools, equipment and volunteer mentors.
Cruise with the Cruisers
CCC hosts group rides to encourage Canmore residents of all ages and abilities to get on a bike for fun, fitness, and transportation. Join one of our Saturday Rides to build confidence and to gain knowledge of Canmore’s bike infrastructure. Our rides are ideal for beginner riders or those who have not been on a bike for many years.
We are excited to announce that we have begun an in-depth School Travel Planning project at Lawrence Grassi Middle School, in partnership with the Town of Canmore, that will help us determine how we can improve the school journey and encourage more children to walk or wheel to school. School Travel Planning has had much success in increasing children’s physical and mental fitness and reducing traffic congestion and emissions at schools across the nation.
